REdefine What Is Possible

If you knew there was a cure for breast and ovarian cancer, would you help?

After you read this, you will know that it exists. It is real. This is just my story and how I am doing my part to tell everyone about it.

Prevention is the key...

My name is JL Brooks and I am a contemporary romance author, event host, and women's health advocate. In January of 2014, I published the first 5 chapters of my novel Forgetting into the Fifty Shades of Pink fundraising anthology. Forgetting was inspired by one of my dearest friends, Shana Shaffer-Ficks, who was diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant and walked a grueling journey to recovery. It was not only the challenges she encountered, but her uncrushable spirit that helped me fill each page.

I was unsure if I was going to truly finish it, but due to the overwhelming response and unwavering support from my friends, family, and motivation via sanity coach and cover model for Forgetting, Michael Patrick Gleason-I was able to complete the story, and know I could use it to help share this amazing discovery!

In the summer of 2014, I was blessed enough to attend the Cincinnati Bengals Calendar Release Party with Dr. Vincent Tuohy and Beat It 5k founder Brandon Perry, where I was asked to talk about the book and connected with the amazing cancer wellness advocate, Kim Blair from Soto Salon. Naturally the energy of passionate people began to spark and we brainstormed on what we could do to help those in our local community on a deeper level.

In October of 2014, I was asked to participate in the radio show "That's Novel" which is hosted by Stephanie's Books Reports, to talk about my novel and breast cancer awareness.  It was there I was connected with the brilliant Mylee Cardenas. She is a mother, breast cancer survivor, retired soldier, model and wellness advocate. She graciously shared her personal story in a letter to my readers, and challenged them to help us be a light to others.

Lesson here? We are all CONNECTED!

Together we have chosen to use our voices to build awareness for the Breast and Ovarian Cancer vaccine and recruit awesome people like you to help fund Dr. Tuohy's research, and the incredible work being conducted at the Cleveland Clinic. No matter how small the amount, every dollar goes directly to the Cleveland Clinic and brings us one step closer to PREVENTING BREAST and OVARIAN CANCER! This not just an idea. This is real. All information is in the link below.

In Mylee's words, "Can you imagine a grassroots funded vaccine?"

Yes. Yes we can!

The initial amount has been set at $200,000,  because that was the amount he was denied once for a research grant. I have faith we can exceed this goal easily. But we can't do it alone.

Not only will I be donating a portion of my monthly sales from my novel Forgetting, which includes a beautiful letter from both Mylee and I in the beginning about our mission, you will also be supporting my efforts today and helping:

•Conduct groundbreaking research that seeks new treatments and cures.

•Train more physicians for the challenges of tomorrow’s healthcare.

•Help individuals – and their families – with the best care possible.

Join me and others in my community in this important cause. Together with your help, we can help Cleveland Clinic continue to make a difference in people’s lives.

Every dollar helps; whatever you can contribute is very much appreciated. I’m hoping all of my friends and family can participate in my efforts, so whatever you can pitch in is valuable – and makes a difference. Cleveland Clinic attracts patients from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. Last year, there were more than 5 million patient visits throughout the health system.

Your gifts make that possible! Let's show them what we can do!
